INSS updates loan rules and seeks 8,500 new staff in Brazil

On the regulatory front, the Federal Court of Accounts (TCU) has kept the granting and payment of social security benefits on its High Risk List due to structural issues affecting request processing. Meanwhile, Finance Minister Dario Durigan confirmed that the government is not currently discussing the decoupling of social security benefits from the minimum wage. For 2026, the maximum value for sickness benefits is set at R$ 8,475.55.
