Insta360 and DJI compete in 360-degree camera market

The 360-degree action camera market features intense competition between Insta360 and DJI, particularly regarding high-resolution video capabilities and regional availability.

Insta360 models, such as the X5 and X6, offer versatile 8K capture that allows users to reframe footage after shooting. The X6 features dual 1-inch-class sensors and supports Dolby Vision, though it carries a higher price point of approximately $710. Notably, the X6 is currently available in the US market.

DJI's Osmo 360 II, launched in September 2026, competes by offering 8K/60fps HDR video, which provides a frame rate advantage over the X6's 8K/50fps. The Osmo 360 II is priced lower at approximately $675 and includes more built-in storage. However, DJI has limited its initial launch to Europe, the UK, and Asia, leaving it unavailable in the United States.
