Insta360 launches Luna Ultra and files US patent lawsuit against DJI

Insta360 has introduced the Luna Ultra, a dual‑lens pocket camera with two 1‑inch sensors capable of 8K video, developed in partnership with Leica. The device targets the same prosumer market as DJI's newly released Osmo Pocket 4P, which continues DJI's line of compact gimbal‑stabilised cameras.

Alongside the product launch, Insta360 has filed a patent‑infringement suit in the United States claiming DJI’s recent offerings violate Insta360’s patents covering gimbal stabilization, camera motion control, telemetry display and 360° video stabilization. DJI had earlier initiated its own legal action against Insta360 after the Luna Ultra announcement, creating a reciprocal litigation front. Both lawsuits are expected to be prolonged, with no resolution timeline disclosed. The dispute highlights escalating competition between the two Chinese camera manufacturers in the U.S. market.
