Insta360 launches Luna Ultra dual‑lens 8K gimbal camera with Leica optics

Insta360 has entered the compact gimbal camera market with the Luna Ultra, a pocket‑sized device co‑engineered with Leica. The camera combines a 1‑inch main sensor with a Leica Summicron F1.8 lens and a secondary 1/1.3‑inch telephoto module with an F2.0 lens, offering five focal lengths, up to 12× total zoom and 6× loss‑less zoom. It records 8K video at 30 fps in Dolby Vision, 4K at up to 120 fps, and 1080p at 240 fps, and supports 10‑bit I‑Log and 8K Dolby Vision capture. A detachable 2‑inch OLED touchscreen provides independent monitoring and control, powered by its own battery.

The Luna Ultra weighs about 233 g, includes a Triple AI Chip system for low‑light processing, and ships from $769. The launch was announced from Leica’s headquarters in Wetzlar, positioning the product as a direct rival to DJI’s Osmo Pocket lineup, especially the upcoming dual‑camera Osmo Pocket 4P.
