Insta360 launches X6 flagship 360 camera with dual Sony sensors

Insta360 has launched the X6, a flagship 360-degree camera designed to function as a versatile tool for travel, extreme sports, and daily vlogging. The device features a significant hardware upgrade, utilizing custom dual Sony 1/1.1-inch square sensors. This design provides approximately 33% more sensor area than the previous X5 model, enhancing light intake and performance in low-light environments.

The X6 introduces a triple AI processing architecture, including an 8-core 3.3 GHz 4nm processor, which reportedly delivers 500% more computing power than its predecessor. Key features include native Dolby Vision support, 10-bit color, and an automated editing pipeline. The camera is designed to replace multiple standalone devices by allowing users to switch between full 360-degree capture, subject-tracked 4K video, and high-resolution single-lens action mode.

In terms of physical design, the X6 features a wider, shorter body with pressure-sensitive touch controls instead of physical buttons. It includes a 2.32-inch OLED screen, 20-meter waterproof capabilities, and an upgraded lens replacement system. The device also supports automated subject tracking and can output stable 4K 30fps footage directly, while retaining original 8K panoramic files for post-capture framing.
