Insta360 launches X6 flagship 360-degree camera with 8K video
Insta360 has announced the launch of its flagship 360-degree camera, the Insta360 X6. The device features dual custom Sony square sensors that provide an imaging area equivalent to a 1-inch sensor when shooting in 360 mode. The camera supports 8K video at 50 frames per second and is the first in its class to support Dolby Vision, 10-bit color depth, and the I-Log profile.
The X6 offers three distinct shooting modes: full 360-degree video at 8K, 4K flat video with automatic object tracking, and a single-lens 5K extreme camera mode. For photography, it supports stills up to 120 megapixels. To streamline the workflow, the camera includes an ‘AI Director’ engine and the ‘Auto Edit 2.0’ mechanism, which uses the PanoMind AI model to automatically edit footage and transfer it to a mobile app during charging.
Hardware specifications include a 2.32-inch OLED screen with 1200 nits brightness, an IP68 waterproof rating up to 20 meters, and a 4nm octa-core processor. Early user testing indicates significantly faster file transfer speeds compared to the previous X5 model, reaching up to 32 MB/s. The device is priced starting at $699.99.
