Insta360 to develop mirrorless cameras with radical new designs

Insta360 CEO Jingkang “JK” Liu has confirmed the company is developing two types of mirrorless cameras. One of these models is expected to feature a “surprising shape” intended to move beyond traditional methods of framing and focusing.

Liu stated that the goal of these interchangeable lens cameras is to increase accessibility by utilizing new technologies and AI, making them easier to use for those unfamiliar with the format. While specific technical details remain unconfirmed, rumors suggest one model may utilize a Micro Four Thirds mount and a 20-megapixel sensor. A prototype may be showcased at the CP+ trade show in Yokohama in 2027.
