Insta360 launches X6 flagship 360 camera with 8K50 video

Insta360 has launched the X6, its new flagship 360-degree camera, marking the company's tenth anniversary in the sector. The device features significant hardware upgrades, including dual custom Sony 1/1.1-inch square sensors that provide approximately 33% more sensor area than the previous X5 model. This larger sensor size is designed to improve light intake and low-light performance.

Key technical specifications include 8K video recording at up to 50fps in 360 mode, and up to 5K60 or 4K120 in single-lens mode. The X6 is the first 360 camera to offer native in-camera Dolby Vision support and 10-bit color depth. Processing is handled by a triple-chip AI architecture, consisting of an 8-core 3.3GHz 4nm processor and two dedicated imaging chips, which reportedly provides 500% more computing power than the X5 while reducing power consumption by 35%.

The camera also introduces advanced AI-driven features such as InstaFrame 2.0 for automatic subject tracking and an AI Director for automated video editing. It is waterproof up to 20 meters without a housing and includes 47GB of usable internal storage. The X6 is available starting at $699.99 for the standard bundle.
