Instacart explores potential sale and holds talks with DoorDash and Uber
Instacart is reportedly exploring strategic options, including a potential sale of its grocery delivery platform. The company has engaged an investment bank to evaluate its position and has held discussions with industry rivals.
Reports indicate that Instacart has held talks with DoorDash regarding a possible acquisition. While Uber was also involved in early discussions, it has reportedly withdrawn from the process. The sale process is described as being in its early stages, and a transaction is not guaranteed.
Market reaction to the news saw Instacart shares rise by 9.2 percent, while shares for Uber and DoorDash declined. Instacart, which has a market valuation exceeding $13 billion, has faced slowing revenue growth compared to its competitors. While DoorDash and Uber saw revenue increases of 28 percent and 18 percent respectively between 2024 and 2025, Instacart’s growth slowed to 11 percent during the same period. Despite this, the company has maintained positive cash flow, reporting $480 million in free cash flow in the second quarter.
