Instinct AI startup reaches $2.5 billion valuation under founder Noah Shinn
Noah Shinn, a 23-year-old college dropout from Northeastern University, has gained significant attention in Silicon Valley with his AI startup, Instinct. The company has reportedly raised $250 million, reaching a valuation of $2.5 billion.
Unlike traditional chatbots that focus on answering questions, Instinct is designed as an AI agent that performs actions. It operates through existing communication channels like text messages, WhatsApp, or phone calls, allowing users to book reservations, make calls, and organize tasks without opening new applications. The technology utilizes a cloud-based system that can access a browser and manage credentials to complete errands on behalf of the user.
Shinn, who previously worked at Sierra, has a background in AI research, specifically regarding how models can learn from past errors through a process known as Reflexion. The rapid rise of Instinct signals a shift in the AI industry from conversational models toward functional assistants capable of executing real-world tasks, placing the small startup in competition with major tech entities like Meta.
