Institut Valencià de Cultura launches director‑general selection amid controversy

The Valencian Institute of Culture (Institut Valencià de Cultura, IVC) has published the official rules for a public competition to appoint a new director‑general. The three‑phase selection process will be scored out of 100 points, evaluating candidates' curricula, a strategic management project, and an interview. Applicants have ten working days to submit their documentation, including a project outlining the institute’s future strategic lines.

The announcement comes as the IVC faces criticism after its deputy director of Performing Arts, María José Mora, applied for a permanent technical cultural position, a move denounced by opposition parties as incompatible with her current role. Mora subsequently withdrew her candidacy, stating there was no incompatibility. The institute is currently overseen on an interim basis by Ignacio Prieto, who assumed the role after the previous director‑general left the post.
