Institute of Directors releases UK Government Balanced Scorecard
The Institute of Directors (IoD) has published an updated Balanced Scorecard for the UK Government, a data‑driven framework that uses ten key performance indicators to assess economic performance. The KPIs cover business confidence, ease of doing business, access to skills and labour, economic management and trade.
IoD Chief Economist Anna Leach said the scorecard shows progress in investment and exports but highlights persistent challenges such as low and volatile business confidence, a tax system that lags behind comparators and electricity costs nearly double the G7 average. She noted that regulatory reform and labour‑market costs remain critical issues. The IoD will later this year release its 2026 Commission recommendations to help policymakers, business leaders and investors strengthen long‑term prosperity and living standards.
