Institute of Metrology marks 20 years, calls for better facilities

The Institute of Metrology in Montenegro has marked its 20th anniversary, celebrating the establishment of a national metrological system and its integration into European and international measurement communities.

Gordana Bajić, Director of the Institute, emphasized that while the institution has developed professional capacities and national standards since 2006, it still lacks adequate, permanent facilities. She noted that laboratories housing national standards and performing high-precision measurements require stable, long-term conditions, calling on relevant institutions to find a permanent solution for workspace development.

Bajić also identified the development of new generations of metrologists as a top priority, stating that while equipment and laboratories can be acquired, training experts takes years. Dragan Vukčević from the Ministry of Economic Development highlighted the Institute's contribution to Montenegro's obligations under negotiating Chapter 1.
