Institutional investors boost stakes in Magnolia Oil & Gas and Viper Energy

Edgestream Partners L. P. increased its holding in Magnolia Oil & Gas Corp (NYSE:MGY) by 45.7% in the first quarter, buying an additional 110,677 shares to own 352,998 shares worth about $11.14 million, representing roughly 0.19% of the company. The filing shows other large investors such as State Street Corp, Dimensional Fund Advisors, Janus Henderson Group, Arrowstreet Capital and TD Asset Management also expanded their positions, bringing institutional ownership of Magnolia Oil & Gas to 94.73% of its stock.

First Trust Advisors LP raised its stake in Viper Energy Inc (NASDAQ:VNOM) by 46.3% in the same period, acquiring 147,774 shares to hold 466,713 shares valued at roughly $21.93 million, or about 0.13% of the company. Additional investors including Legacy Wealth Management, Parallel Advisors, the Swiss National Bank, Heartland Advisors and McAlvany Wealth Management also added to their holdings, resulting in institutional investors owning 87.72% of Viper Energy’s shares.
