Institutional Trading Tames Bitcoin Volatility as Drawdowns Shrink

Institutional investors now dominate crypto spot trading, accounting for about 72% of volume on Wintermute’s over‑the‑counter desk. This shift has softened Bitcoin’s price declines, with the current pullback of roughly 55% from the October peak far less severe than the 90% crashes seen in earlier years.

Analyst Ali Martinez highlighted technical levels that could steer short‑term Bitcoin moves, noting a critical $64,300 threshold that may trigger a breakout if a four‑hour candle closes above it. He also warned that recent inflows of more than 20,000 BTC to exchanges and miner sales of roughly 1,774 BTC (about $112 million) could increase selling pressure. Martinez identified similar support and resistance points for XRP and warned of potential weakness for the Hyperliquid token.

Veteran investor Larry Lepard, founder of Equity Management Associates, reiterated his bullish stance on Bitcoin, urging MicroStrategy’s Executive Chairman Michael Saylor to hold the company’s BTC holdings rather than sell.
