Instituto Bons Ventos athletes conclude European sailing competitions

Athletes from the Instituto Bons Ventos Olympic Team, Mateus Isaac, Lucas Fonseca, and Valentina Guimarães, have concluded a series of international sailing competitions in Europe as they prepare for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic cycle.

In England, Mateus Isaac finished 19th in the iQFOiL World Championship held in Weymouth and Portland. Despite being in 12th place heading into the final day, he was unable to secure a spot in the Medal Series after attempting to take risks to reach the top ten.

In Turkey, Lucas Fonseca secured 11th place at the Formula Kite European Championship, finishing just two points shy of the finals. Meanwhile, Valentina Guimarães competed in the Women's ILCA 6 World Championship in Dún Laoghaire, Ireland.

The athletes are now shifting their focus to the World Sailing Championships taking place in Fortaleza, Brazil, in January 2027. This upcoming event will be a critical step in the Olympic qualification process, offering multiple spots for the iQFOiL, Formula Kite, and ILCA 6 classes.
