Instituto Etiene Medeiros project named finalist for sports award

The Braçadas que Transformam project, led by the Instituto Etiene Medeiros (IEM), has been named a finalist in the 11th Prêmio Sou do Esporte Foco Radical 2026. The institute is competing in the Third Sector category.

Based in Recife, the institute was founded by swimmer Etiene Medeiros. The project utilizes sports and education to support children and adolescents, aiming to combat inequalities related to gender, race, and social class. This marks the second consecutive year the IEM has reached the finals of this award.

The winner will be determined by a combination of a judging commission and a public vote, which remains open until the end of the month. The award ceremony is scheduled for November 30 at Sala São Paulo and will be broadcast live on BandSports.
