Instituto faces Newell's in Clausura tournament finale

Instituto will host Newell's Old Boys this Saturday at the Juan Domingo Perón stadium in Alta Córdoba for the 16th round of the Clausura 2026 tournament. The match carries significant implications for both clubs as the regular phase concludes.

Instituto, led by Diego Flores, currently sits at the top of Group A with 33 points. Having already secured a spot in the playoffs and qualification for the 2027 Copa Sudamericana, the team aims to finish as group leaders to avoid dependency on Boca Juniors' results and to improve their standing in the annual table for potential Copa Libertadores 2027 qualification.

Newell's Old Boys enters the match in sixth place in Group A with 22 points. Managed by Frank Darío Kudelka, the Rosario-based side requires at least a draw to guarantee their qualification for the round of 16 without relying on other results. A loss would force the team to depend on outcomes involving Gimnasia de Mendoza, Independiente, San Lorenzo, and Unión.
