Instituto Gruparj to host free osteoporosis screening campaign in Petrópolis

Instituto Gruparj Petrópolis will host an osteoporosis awareness campaign on October 22 and 23 in Petrópolis, Brazil. The event, held from 9:00 to 16:30 at Rua Monsenhor Bacelar, 589, is open to the public without the need for prior appointment.

In observance of World Osteoporosis Day, the initiative aims to promote prevention and early diagnosis of the disease, which often remains asymptomatic until a fracture occurs. Services offered include free heel ultrasonometry, a quick and painless procedure to assess bone characteristics and identify fracture risks.

Additionally, the campaign will provide free Hepatitis C testing via finger-prick blood samples and various vaccination and health orientation activities. Dr. Wanda Heloisa Ferreira, president of the institute, stated that the annual campaign seeks to facilitate access to screening exams and encourage proactive health care to prevent complications.
