Instituto Tecnológico de Orizaba students extend strike

Students at the Instituto Tecnológico de Orizaba (ITO) have extended their strike indefinitely while reviewing a proposed timeline from the administration to address 35 specific demands. The protesters have occupied the facilities, citing long-standing issues including academic, administrative, and infrastructural failures.

Key grievances include persistent errors in the SIGI system used for enrollment and scheduling, a shortage of professors and available subjects, and deteriorating campus facilities such as classrooms, laboratories, and basic services like water and internet. Students are also demanding independent audits regarding the management of maintenance budgets and have raised concerns regarding administrative performance and allegations of misconduct, including bullying and sexual harassment.
