Instituto Tecnológico de Querétaro workers demand director's removal
Unionized workers from the Instituto Tecnológico de Querétaro (ITQ), represented by the SNTE Section 61, are demanding the removal of Director Ramón Soto Arriola due to alleged administrative irregularities and labor harassment.
Nubia Merle Bravo Morán, general secretary of the union delegation, reported that the institution is facing significant issues, including the unilateral closure of the facility which has negatively impacted staff. Workers have also raised concerns regarding the misuse of professional service contracts to bypass permanent staff and the irregular assignment of interim positions to relatives.
In addition to labor disputes, the union highlighted severe deficiencies in campus infrastructure. Reported issues include insufficient projectors, damaged whiteboards, poor seating, and a lack of internet connectivity, which union leaders described as “catastrophic” for a technological higher education institution. The workers have submitted formal requests for intervention to both the federal Secretariat of Public Education (SEP) and the state government of Querétaro.
