Insurance industry sees major M&A and legal developments
The insurance and insurtech sectors saw significant activity in mid-October 2026. CCC Intelligent Solutions, a provider of software for insurance claims and vehicle damage estimation, has agreed to be acquired by a consortium led by GTCR and including Elliott Investment Management. The all-cash deal has an enterprise value of approximately $6.1 billion, with shareholders set to receive $7.75 per share. The transaction is expected to close in the first quarter of 2027.
In other M&A activity, Novacore has agreed to acquire Diesel Insurance Solutions, a California-based managing general underwriter specializing in trucking and cargo insurance. This acquisition aims to expand Novacore’s specialty transportation business, particularly for logistics operating across the US–Mexico border. Additionally, Porch Group has agreed to a $200 million acquisition of Allied Trust’s insurance carrier and managing general agency.
In the insurance-linked securities (ILS) market, Josh Wander, a co-founder of 777 Partners, pleaded guilty to wire and securities fraud involving a scheme to defraud lenders and investors exceeding $500 million. Regarding catastrophe bonds, analysis indicates that Hurricane Simon remained outside the parametric trigger zones for the $175 million IBRD CAR Mexico 2024 (Pacific) bond. Meanwhile, Euler ILS Partners estimated insurance industry losses from Hurricane Isaias to be between $2 billion and $4 billion.
