Insurance providers issue seasonal damage and fraud warnings
Insurance providers in Norway and Denmark are issuing warnings to consumers regarding seasonal risks and fraudulent activities.
In Norway, Frende Forsikring reports a high frequency of boat damage occurring as the boating season ends. Data from Finans Norge indicates that 4,172 leisure boat damage claims were reported between October and March last winter. Common causes include theft of electronics and valuables, water leaks, pests, and weather-related issues such as storms, heavy snow, and mooring damage. While 39 percent of owners store boats in professional facilities, many others keep them in gardens or at harbors, increasing vulnerability.
In Denmark, Sygeforsikringen “danmark” has issued an urgent warning to its members regarding a wave of phishing emails. Scammers are sending fraudulent messages claiming that members have uncollected refunds, such as 1,400 DKK, and prompting them to click buttons to confirm payouts. The insurance company clarified that all emails regarding specific payout amounts are fake and urged members to remain vigilant against these evolving criminal methods.
