Insurtech sector expands in Central America and adopts AI
The insurtech ecosystem in Central America is experiencing rapid growth, with the number of active startups reaching 40. According to the Latam Insurtech Journey report by Digital Insurance LatAm, the region saw a 29% year-on-year increase in the first half of 2026, significantly outpacing the 15% growth recorded the previous year. This expansion positions Central America as the fastest-growing zone within Latin America, accounting for approximately 5% of the continent's 576 insurtech companies. Notably, 53% of these regional startups are foreign-based.
