Integration journey from Aleppo to Arboga social services

A personal account details a journey of integration in Sweden following arrival from Aleppo, Syria, in 2013. After crossing the Mediterranean by rubber boat, the individual began building a life in Sweden, starting with learning Swedish in Köping in 2014.

Following various roles in language support and job coaching, the individual studied social work at Örebro University. Professional experience includes working with the Swedish Prison and Probation Service, social services in Köping, and child and family services in Arboga Municipality.

In a political capacity, the individual served as a primary candidate for the Christian Democrats and chaired the social welfare committee in Arboga for the first three years of the mandate period. Following a power shift in 2026, they transitioned to a role as an integration coordinator for Arboga Municipality. Additionally, the individual established a Facebook page to combat disinformation regarding the Swedish social services system.
