Intel to acquire Israeli quantum software startup Classiq

Intel has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Classiq, an Israeli quantum computing software company based in Tel Aviv. The deal, which is estimated to be valued between $2.2 billion and $2.3 billion, aims to transform Intel’s Quantum Computing Group into a full-stack provider by combining Classiq’s automated algorithm synthesis platform with Intel’s silicon spin qubit hardware.

Classiq’s software allows developers to design and run quantum programs without needing deep expertise in manual circuit construction. The platform is designed to be hardware-agnostic, meaning it will continue to support various quantum hardware architectures, including those from Intel’s competitors, following the acquisition.

Intel has been investing in quantum computing research since 2015, focusing on manufacturing qubit chips and cryogenic control electronics using conventional semiconductor fabrication processes. The acquisition is expected to close in the first half of 2027, subject to regulatory approvals. Classiq, founded in 2020, currently serves clients such as BMW, AT&T, and HSBC.
