Intel advances Arizona semiconductor expansion with Fab 62
Intel has reached a new milestone in its U.S. manufacturing expansion with the completion of the Fab 62 building at its Ocotillo campus in Chandler, Arizona. Construction and the installation of manufacturing equipment are currently underway, with operations expected to begin by the end of 2028.
Fab 62 is part of a larger $32 billion investment program in Arizona aimed at increasing domestic semiconductor capacity. The facility will serve as the campus’s sixth high-volume manufacturing factory, supporting both Intel’s internal products and external customers through Intel Foundry. This follows the activation of Fab 52, which utilizes Intel 18A technology to produce chips such as the Core Ultra Series 3 processors.
While the Arizona project moves forward, Intel’s manufacturing complex in New Albany, Ohio, continues to progress through structural milestones, though it faces a longer timeline for completion. Intel’s presence in Arizona, which dates back to 1979, currently generates an estimated annual economic impact of $10.7 billion for the state.
