Intel announces Nova Lake processors for CES 2027
Intel has confirmed that its next generation of desktop processors, known as Nova Lake, will be officially presented at CES 2027 in Las Vegas. During the company's third quarter 2026 earnings call, leadership indicated that the development of Nova Lake is ahead of schedule.
Nova Lake is set to be the first customer product to utilize the Intel 18A-P manufacturing process. While previous 18A-based chips like Panther Lake and Wildcat Lake were restricted to mobile applications, Nova Lake aims to address a recognized gap in Intel's high-end desktop portfolio. The 18A-P process is expected to offer a 9% performance increase at the same power level or an 18% reduction in power consumption for the same performance compared to the standard 18A process.
Unconfirmed reports suggest the architecture could feature up to 52 CPU cores, utilizing a combination of Coyote Cove performance cores and Arctic Wolf efficient cores. Intel CFO David Zinsner acknowledged the company's previous lack of a high-end desktop offering, noting that Nova Lake is specifically designed to fill that void.
