Intel Arc G3 Extreme handheld processor boosts gaming performance with new power management

Intel’s Arc G3 Extreme handheld processor implements Intelligent Bias Control (IBC) 3.5, which powers down the two performance cores when the system’s power draw falls to 14 W or below. By shifting the limited power budget from the CPU to the integrated ARC B390 graphics engine, the chip delivers more stable GPU clock speeds and higher frame rates. Intel’s internal testing shows a 13 % average gaming performance gain at a 12 W power limit, with gains up to 31 % in some titles, and claims the processor outperforms AMD’s Ryzen Z2 Extreme by 37 % at the same power level.

When paired with the Intel G3 Extreme CPU (14‑core, 14‑thread) in handheld devices such as the MSI Claw 8X and OneX Player 3, the configuration can reach over 100 FPS in Cyberpunk 2077 with frame generation enabled and sustain 70 + FPS in Crimson Desert when docked at 1440p. Adjusting the thermal design power to 48‑50 W in docked mode further boosts performance, though at the cost of higher power consumption.
