Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan purchases $10 million in company stock

Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan recently made a significant open-market purchase of 105,263 shares, valued at approximately $10 million, according to a Form 4 filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. This transaction, made through a family trust at $95 per share, follows a major secondary stock offering by the company that raised roughly $20 billion.

Despite recent volatility and the stock falling below the $100 mark, Intel has seen substantial growth, with shares rising more than 160% year-to-date. While the company reported an $11 billion net loss over the past year, analysts note much of this was due to $12.5 billion in non-cash, mark-to-market charges related to its CHIPS Act agreement. Excluding these accounting charges, the company has shown signs of profitability and accelerating revenue growth.

Market sentiment remains divided. While some analysts view the recent stock offering as constructive for Intel’s foundry plans, others have expressed caution. UBS recently trimmed its price target for the stock, and technical analysis suggests the company may be entering a corrective phase following its recent rally.
