Intel expands historic stock sale to USD 20 billion
Intel has expanded its historic stock sale to USD 20 billion following investor demand that exceeded USD 100 billion. This marks the company’s largest capital operation since its initial public offering in 1971.
The company will issue 210.5 million new shares at USD 95 each, aiming to net approximately USD 19.7 billion after expenses. This move represents a strategic shift from the previous decade, during which the firm spent USD 82 billion on share buybacks rather than manufacturing capacity.
The funds are intended for capital expenditures and working capital to expand manufacturing and advanced packaging capabilities for Intel Foundry. This follows a period of growth where Intel’s stock nearly tripled in 2026, driven by unprecedented demand for artificial intelligence computing infrastructure.
