Intel launches Arc G3 Extreme processor for handheld gaming

Intel unveiled its new Arc G3 Extreme processor at Computex 2026 in Taipei. Built on the Panther Lake architecture, the chip uses a 14‑core CPU layout (2 performance cores, 8 efficiency cores and 4 ultra‑efficiency cores) and integrates an Xe3 "Celestial" GPU with 12 Xe cores. Intel highlights AI‑driven multi‑frame generation to boost frame rates while keeping power draw low, promising roughly double the performance of competing AMD handheld chips or twice the battery life at the same power level.

The MSI Claw 8 EX AI+ was the first handheld console announced to incorporate the Arc G3 Extreme. It features a 9‑inch IPS panel (1920×1200, up to 120 Hz), 32 GB of LPDDR5X RAM, a 1 TB NVMe SSD and an 80 Wh battery, running Windows 11 Home. MSI also added Wi‑Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, dual Thunderbolt 4 ports and a range of ergonomic controls, including haptic feedback and fingerprint authentication. The device was demonstrated running titles such as Hogwarts Legacy and Battlefield 6 at 60 fps with XeSS upscaling. A global launch is slated for late June with a suggested price around US$1,500. Other manufacturers, including Acer and OneXPlayer, have also shown prototypes using the Arc G3 Extreme.
