Intel Moon Lake processors to target budget laptops under $400
Intel is developing Moon Lake, a new generation of low-power processors designed for entry-level laptops. These processors aim to compete with ARM-based devices by offering high power efficiency and affordability, specifically targeting the market for laptops priced below $400.
Technical specifications indicate that Moon Lake will utilize the Intel 18A manufacturing process and the Darkmont architecture, which is used for E-cores in Panther Lake processors. The chip configuration is expected to consist solely of four low-power (LP) cores, following a 0+0+4 structure. With a thermal design power (TDP) starting at 6 watts, these processors are intended to handle everyday tasks such as web browsing, office work, and multimedia while providing extended battery life.
This development is part of a broader strategy to expand Intel's product lineup. While Moon Lake focuses on extreme efficiency, the company is also working on the Wildcat Lake series, which includes higher-performance options featuring both P-cores and E-cores.
