Intel Nova Lake-S to debut with LGA1954 socket and 900-Series motherboards

Internal Intel documents and partner presentations have confirmed that the upcoming Nova Lake-S desktop processor generation will utilize a new LGA1954 socket and the Intel 900-Series motherboard platform. This transition will replace the current LGA1851 socket, meaning users will need new motherboards to upgrade to Nova Lake-S.

Leaked information suggests a shift in Intel’s platform strategy, with intentions to maintain the LGA1954 socket across multiple processor generations. This move aims to provide greater platform longevity and stability, similar to the approach used by AMD with its AM4 and AM5 sockets.

The product roadmap indicates that Nova Lake-S mass production is expected in the fourth quarter of 2026. Market availability is projected to begin in the first quarter of 2027 with a 28-core version, followed by a 52-core flagship model later in the year.
