Intel reports record revenue growth but shares tumble
Intel Corp announced that its second‑quarter 2026 revenue reached $16.1 billion, a 25.4 % increase year‑over‑year and the strongest growth in 15 years. The Data Center & AI segment drove most of the rise, up 59 % to $6.3 billion. On an adjusted basis the company earned $0.42 per share, double analyst expectations, while GAAP reported a net loss of $11 billion due to a one‑time $12.5 billion charge linked to CHIPS Act trust funds. Non‑GAAP earnings were $2.2 billion and free cash flow turned positive.
Despite the strong financial performance, Intel's stock fell 7.73 % on the day of the release and has declined 27.64 % over the past 30 days. The firm also highlighted strategic partnerships, citing investments from Nvidia and SoftBank and collaborations with Tesla and Lens Technology to advance its AI‑focused chip roadmap, including the 18A process and the upcoming 14A node.
