Intel reportedly planning Moon Lake and Wildcat Lake Refresh laptop chips for 2027
Leaked reports suggest Intel is preparing two distinct processor families for the 2027 laptop market: Moon Lake and Wildcat Lake Refresh.
Moon Lake is expected to launch in the fourth quarter of 2027. This series is designed to prioritize power efficiency, potentially utilizing up to four low-power efficiency cores without traditional performance cores. With an estimated power consumption of approximately 6W, these chips could enable the development of fanless, ultra-thin laptops and entry-level mini-PCs. Moon Lake is expected to be manufactured using the standard 18A process and include Xe3 architecture graphics.
Wildcat Lake Refresh is projected to arrive earlier, in the second quarter of 2027. This family aims to provide higher processing power for mainstream and business laptops by doubling the performance-core count to four, alongside four low-power efficiency cores. These processors may utilize the improved 18A-P manufacturing process and could support vPro technology with configurable power limits up to 35W.
Additionally, Intel is reportedly developing the next-generation Nova Lake architecture for future high-performance desktop and laptop applications.
