Intel reveals Crescent Island AI accelerator details: massive Xe3P GPU and 160 GB LPDDR5X memory

Images of Intel's upcoming Crescent Island PCIe accelerator PCB were leaked, showing a substantially larger Xe3P GPU than the current Xe2‑based Arc cards. The board accommodates 20 LPDDR5X memory modules—12 on the front and 8 on the rear—providing up to 160 GB of capacity (8 GB per module). Intel chose lower‑cost LPDDR5X instead of HBM, aiming for a cost‑effective AI inference solution.

The PCB features 13 populated VRM sections out of a possible 18, a single 16‑pin power connector at the back, and a USB‑C port likely intended for diagnostics and engineering. The accelerator is designed for power‑ and cost‑optimized, air‑cooled data‑center servers and targets inference workloads, leveraging the Xe3P microarchitecture for high performance‑per‑watt across a broad range of data types. Intel expects the product to launch within a few months.
