Intellectuals Network issues anti-fascist declaration in Cuba

The Network of Intellectuals, Artists, and Social Movements in Defense of Humanity has issued a declaration titled ‘For peace! For life! Against fascism!’ during the International Colloquium ‘Fidel: legacy and future’ and the 34th Havana International Book Fair.

Presented by Abel Prieto Jiménez, president of Casa de las Américas, the manifesto commemorates the 90th anniversary of the death of poet Federico García Lorca. The declaration calls for anti-fascist unity and criticizes what it describes as imperialist, Zionist, and fascist aggression.

The group expressed concerns regarding the political climate in the United States, alleging a rise in McCarthyism and the disregard of international law. Additionally, the network warned against the rise of the far-right in Latin America, suggesting a return to the era of the National Security Doctrine and Operation Condor, while noting the growth of far-right movements and hate speech in Europe.
