Intelligence redefined in the age of generative AI

As generative AI advances, the definition of intelligence is shifting from the ability to provide correct answers to the ability to ask the right questions. While AI can rapidly organize information, analyze data, and generate ideas, it lacks the capacity to make final decisions or identify the underlying root of a problem.

In the AI era, human value is expected to move toward determining what should be thought about, making decisive choices, and taking responsibility for actions. The distinction between individuals may widen based on whether they use AI as a mere tool or as a partner to deepen their own thinking.

From a neuroscientific perspective, true intelligence is also being redefined through sociality. Unlike computers, humans possess a ‘Theory of Mind,’ allowing them to read others' emotions and cooperate within a society. This social intelligence and the ability to coexist with others remain uniquely human strengths that machines cannot replicate.
