Inter bank cuts consumer complaint index to 34.84, climbs to 5th in Brazil ranking
Brazil's Banco Central publishes a quarterly complaint ranking that measures the proportion of procedente complaints per million customers. In the first quarter of 2026 the digital‑focused Inter bank recorded 1,506 complaints from a base of over 43 million customers, lowering its index to 34.84 and moving to fifth place, an improvement from the previous quarter.
The ranking is part of the regulator’s broader effort to ensure safe digital banking. The Central Bank’s updated cyber‑security policy requires institutions to implement controls such as authentication, digital‑certificate management, network protection, access control, traceability, secure system integration, vulnerability correction, cyber‑intelligence and independent penetration testing. As finance professor Leandro dos Santos Maciel notes, “Cabe ao órgão regulador estabelecer, fiscalizar e atualizar os padrões mínimos de segurança…”. Additional consumer safeguards include supervision by the Central Bank and deposit protection through the Fundo Garantidor de Créditos (FGC).
