Inter-Cultural Association of Greater Victoria plans health clinic and daycare expansion

The Inter-Cultural Association of Greater Victoria (ICA) plans to expand its services by converting office spaces in its five-storey Douglas Street building into a community health clinic and a licensed daycare centre.

The proposed health clinic aims to provide primary and mental health services through three to four practitioners, potentially serving between 1,200 and 3,600 patients. The clinic is intended to offer culturally competent, trauma-informed care to assist newcomers and refugees in navigating the healthcare system. It also plans to link with British Columbia’s Health Connect Registry.

Additionally, the ICA intends to convert its existing childminding capacity into licensed daycare spaces to address local childcare shortages. Victoria City Council has signaled support for the project, directing staff to assist the ICA with zoning, permitting, and resource requirements.
