Inter Miami secures MLS playoff berth with 2-0 win

Inter Miami has officially secured a spot in the MLS playoffs following a 2-0 victory over New York City FC. The win, which includes goals from Germán Berterame and Rodrigo De Paul, keeps the team in second place in the Eastern Conference.

Lionel Messi played a decisive role in the match, providing the assist for De Paul’s goal. The victory marks the second consecutive win for the club under head coach Cristian ‘Kily’ González, who has urged the squad to continue improving as they approach the postseason.

In addition to the playoff qualification, it was confirmed that Messi will travel to Spain to receive the 2026 Princesa de Asturias de los Deportes award on October 23. Coach González stated that the trip will not prevent Messi from participating in upcoming matches, including the fixture against New York Red Bulls on October 24.
