Inter Milan faces Real Madrid and Liverpool in Champions League draw
The draw for the 2026-2027 UEFA Champions League league phase has been completed in Monaco, determining the opponents for several major clubs, including Inter Milan. Managed by Cristian Chivu, the Italian champions face a challenging schedule that includes away matches against Real Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, Feyenoord Rotterdam, and Slovan Bratislava, while hosting Liverpool, Club Brugge, Shakhtar Donetsk, and VfB Stuttgart in Milan.
Inter Vice-President Javier Zanetti emphasized that competing in the Champions League is “fundamental” for the club, expressing a desire to surpass last year's performance. Chivu noted that while the competition brings together the elite of European football and all matches will be difficult, the team aims to prove they are competitive against top-tier clubs.
Other notable matchups include PSV Eindhoven facing Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid, and AEK Athens scheduled to play against Manchester City and Real Madrid. The first round of the league phase is set to begin on September 8 and 9, with the final matches taking place at the end of January.
