Inter Milan attracts interest from Qatari family office Al Mirqab
The Qatari family office Al Mirqab has expressed interest in acquiring a minority stake in the Italian football club Inter Milan. The exploratory interest has been directed toward the club’s current owner, the American investment firm Oaktree Capital Management.
Al Mirqab is managed by Hamad bin Jassim bin Jaber Al Thani, a former Prime Minister of Qatar. While discussions are reportedly in a preliminary and verbal stage, no official negotiations or formal offers have been made. Oaktree has not commented on the matter and is not currently seeking to sell its majority control of the club.
This potential move follows significant real estate investments by the Al Thani family in Italy, including the acquisition of a luxury building in Milan and a former residence in Sardinia. This interest mirrors a previous attempt in 2023 by the Sheikh’s son to invest in the club when it was owned by Suning.
