Inter Milan activates €23 million buyback to re‑sign Aleksandar Stankovic

Inter Milan confirmed that it has exercised the €23 million buy‑back clause in its 2025‑26 transfer agreement with Club Brugge to bring Serbian midfielder Aleksandar Stanković back to the Nerazzurri. The club announced a new five‑year contract running from 1 July 2026 to 30 June 2031.

Stanković, the son of Inter legend Dejan, spent a season with the Belgian champions, making 39 league appearances, scoring six goals and providing two assists, and helping Brugge win the domestic title. The purchase price represents a significant profit over the €9.5 million Brugge originally paid for him.

Inter’s early activation of the clause, before the 15 June deadline, also pre‑empted interest from clubs such as Atletico Madrid, Borussia Dortmund and several Premier League sides. The deal is viewed as part of a broader midfield rebuild under coach Cristian Chivu.
