Inter Milan target Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones under coach Cristi Chivu

Inter Milan have signed English centre‑back John Stones on a free transfer after his contract with Manchester City expired, with his medical scheduled for 30 July. Coach Cristi Chivu, who guided Inter to the Serie A and Coppa Italia titles, has identified Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones as the club’s primary target. Liverpool are reportedly asking €40 million for Jones, a sum Inter consider excessive given the player has only six months left on his contract and could leave for free in 2027. Earlier this summer Inter also added Aleksandar Stanković, Manuel Akanji and Mark Provedel for a total of €41 million, while offloading several players including Denzel Dumfries and Francesco Acerbi. Chivu’s tactical adjustments feature moving Andy Diouf to the right‑back role, using Akanji as a midfield shield, deploying versatile defender Carlos Augusto across the back line, and assigning a deeper play‑making role to Piotr Zieliński.
