Romano Floriani Mussolini scores first Serie A goal for Lazio

Romano Floriani Mussolini, the 23-year-old defender for Lazio and great-grandson of former Italian dictator Benito Mussolini, scored his first goal in Serie A during a 6-2 victory against Sassuolo. The goal, which occurred in the 16th minute, was initially ruled offside but was subsequently confirmed following a VAR review.

The match took place on October 27, a date noted for its historical connection to the 1922 March on Rome. Floriani Mussolini, who uses the name “Romano” on his jersey to distance himself from political discussions, has previously stated that he holds no interest in politics and wishes to focus solely on his football career.

Lazio's victory moves the team to the top of the Serie A table with eight wins and one draw in nine matches. The defender, a product of the Lazio youth academy, previously played for clubs including Juve Stabia and Cremonese on loan.
