Inter San Carlos targets stable stay in Costa Rica’s Primera División with star signings
Inter San Carlos, the newly promoted club from Aguas Zarcas, has pledged to avoid the quick relegations that fell on recent ascendents Santa Ana and Guadalupe FC. Club president Giovanny Paniagua emphasized a long‑term, financially responsible project, highlighting solid sponsorship and a budget aimed at sustaining top‑flight competition.
The team reinforced its squad by signing former Arsenal forward Joel Campbell and Mexican striker Erick “Cubo” Torres ahead of the Apertura 2026 season. Both players were presented on social media, with Campbell expected to lead the attack and Torres adding depth after his previous club, Municipal Liberia, lost its license. Inter San Carlos is set to make its Primera División debut on 26 July 2026 against Club Sport Carta.
