Interactive Brokers adds Romanian shares to its platform, expanding global reach

Interactive Brokers reported a pre‑tax profit margin of 77% for its latest quarter, marking the seventh consecutive quarter with margins above 70%. The brokerage now has a market capitalization of about $155 billion, roughly 5.2 million client accounts and generated $1 billion in net interest income.

The firm also expanded its offering by adding shares listed on the Bucharest Stock Exchange, including Banca Transilvania, OMV Petrom, Romgaz, and Hidroelectrica. This allows non‑resident investors to trade Romanian equities directly through Interactive Brokers’ platform, with a variable commission of 0.28% of order value and an annual custody fee of 0.1% of positions held in RON.
