Interdisciplinary discussions on death and end-of-life care held in Italy

Two separate events in Italy recently hosted interdisciplinary discussions regarding the meaning of death, grief, and end-of-life care.

In Latina, the cultural association Il Cerchio delle Idee organized an event at Teatro Spazio Z titled “What is after death?”. The program brought together diverse perspectives, including theological reflections from Don Fabio Gallozzi, psychological insights from Cristina Pansera regarding grief and near-death experiences, and contributions on mediumship and anthroposophy.

In Cremona, the Fondazione Vismara De Petri ETS held the “Vismara Talks” conference at the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore. The two-day event provided training for healthcare and social assistance professionals, focusing on the ethics of care, palliative care, and the dignity of the person. The discussions integrated psychological, philosophical, social, Buddhist, and Christian viewpoints to address fragility, impermanence, and the challenges of managing death within residential care facilities.
